Altair Engineering Employees Raise $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County

Charity golf outing benefits organization that addresses poverty housing.

TROY, Mich., (Sept. 25, 2006) - Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that strengthen client innovation and decision-making, today announced that its Charity Golf Outing, held Aug. 21, 2006, at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Shelby Twp., Mich., raised $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County (HFHOC). This year, Altair combined its annual employee golf outing with a fundraiser for the local chapter of the global organization.

The event drew more than 100 golfers, including Altair employees, their friends and families, as well as support from Altair’s valued customers and suppliers. Corporate sponsors included Andrew R. Basile, Sr., Blue Cross of Michigan, Heath Press, LSG Insurance Partners, Media Genesis, Penton Custom Media, Porter Novelli, Inc., Ricoh Business Systems, Gregory J. Schwartz & Co., and USA Credit Union.

"HFHOC applauds Altair Engineering and all of its contributors for valuing and committing to community involvement and improvement," said Gwen Joseph, director of Corporate Relations for Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County. "Habitat provides a ‘hand up,’ not a ‘handout’ that builds stronger families and neighborhoods through affordable homeownership. Together, we are changing lives."

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization that addresses the issue of poverty housing. Since its inception in 1976, Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses, sheltering more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities worldwide. Habitat provides "partnership housing" where those in need work side by side to build simple, decent homes.

"Altair has a long history of giving back to the communities in which we live and work," said Cathy Bonacorsi, Altair’s director of Community Relations. "Helping respected, hard-working organizations such as Habitat for Humanity make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate is a real pleasure."
